Blenheim Palace
Famed as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill – Britain’s inspiring war-time Prime Minister – Blenheim Palace is renowned for its architecture and gardens, as well as a fascinating 300-year history.
Bleinheim Palace was built in the early 18th century and is considered one of the finest examples of English Baroque architecture.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is particularly revered and visited as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, whose mother prematurely went into labour whilst visiting family here. Churchill spent many childhood holidays at the palace, and even proposed to his wife-to-be, Clementine, in the grounds.
There is something for everyone to explore at the palace, no matter what age, including state rooms, and formal gardens with an array of wildlife, as well as delicious food and drink available in the cafe, and a gift shop.
Seasonal exhibitions and events are held all year round, from Christmas markets to outdoor concerts. There are great areas for children, too, including The Butterfly House, adventure playground and the Marlborough Maze.
The palace is generally open every day from 10am until 5.30pm; you can buy tickets at the entrance, or in advance through the website.
